I am trying to find my mother-in-laws marriage records and there seems to be no way that I can find them for free . I assume they are public records and I do not want to pay for them
I found my 2nd great grandpa’s marriage record online. His name is Lars Ericson. BUT he listed his name as Lars Ericson Brasik and his dad as Eric Brasik, we always thought it was Eric Ericson and Lars seems to have dropped the Brasik part when he came to the US, he’s even listed on the passenger list as Ericson – I looked at it like a zillion times and Brasik it isn’t abbrievated , it doesn’t end in son or sen. Lars is from Sweden and got married in Norway. I did a surname search in Ancestry and all the Brasiks I can find are Austro/Hungarian. So, I’m thinking that Eric Brasik’s dad was Hungarian. Lars was born in 1846, so you figure his grandpa, Eric’s dad was bron around 1800 or so.
Does anyone know of like people from Eastern Europe seeking refuge in Sweden in the early 1800′s? Or maybe Brasik is the name of the farm in Sweden where Lars’ father came from?
I double checked the scan of the page, seems all the S’s have dots over them. My mom thought there was an I in there, but it’s just BRASK, which makes alot more sense. I found a bunch of Swedish Brasks in familysearch.org. Thanks to everyone who answered!
