i am trying to find a recent marriage record and am not sure how to look for it

Ok, so this isn’t exact obviously, but most of it is right. So me and Chris meet for the first time and already I find him gorgeous lol but his girlfriend Mia comes over and claims him by kissing him. When I get home I can’t get Chris off my mind. We end up meeting again and flirt a little which Mia notices. I talk to Roxy, Chris’ sister and tell her that I have feelings for her brother and she cheers me up. But Chris ends up proposing to Mia and you see my reaction to that. Then Hermione and Nicole come round to talk to me about it. A few months after they get married I find myself a new boyfriend, and Chris doesn’t really like that, and my new boyfriend ends up proposing to me, I still like Chris but I feel I have to move on and I agree. Mia and my boyfriend are away for a long time and Valentine’s day comes around and me and Chris share a dance. With them away me and Chris get closer. My feelings are so strong for Chris that I don’t feel it fair to marry my boyfriend and break it off. Eventually me and Chris get so close we end up sharing a kiss etc. After that, Mia comes back and me and Chris have a talk about what to do about our feelings. Mia finds out and talks to Chris and eventually leaves him a letter telling him she has no choice but to leave. Chris gets angry and I come round to talk to him and try and get him to move on from her, and we end up together. *Breathes* Gosh that was long *laughs*

Question by : How far back have you REALLY traced your ancestry?
I’ve noticed some users on this board (I won’t say whom) and others like it have made some claims about their ancestry that are a little….dubious, leaving me to wonder how well sourced their information is.

So, how far back have you verifiably traced your ancestry? What kind of sources do you have? How often do you rely on what others say as opposed to actual records?

I’ve traced my ancestry back to the mid 1700′s on my Italian side using birth, marriage, and death records. On my non-Italian grandfather’s side I’ve traced my ancestry back to 1660, but the records get a little sketchy somewhere along the line (so I take that line at face value).
Not only is it lazy and sloppy, Jacob, HALF the time those trees are FULL of false information!! Which is why I ask: I’ve seen some peoplen saying they’ve traced their trees VERY far back, which leaves me to wonder if they use the aforesaid lazy and sloppy method of “genealogy”.

On a side, note, sometimes, to get a laugh, I look up a REALLY old historical figures on Ancestry.com’s family trees just because I think it’s funny to see the lines back to that person some people make. ONE person had a tree going back to like 3000 BC, LOL!
Wow, and did I read on another question that you’re 15, Jacob? That’s GREAT you’re interested in genealogy so young! When did you start, and what got you started?
Yes! I’ve seen Norse Gods, Adam and Eve, you name it. It’s actually really hilarious! Sometimes, I feel like I should tell them how ridiculous it looks, but that, I’m afraid would be like nailing jello to a wall. There’s just TOO many with false information, and very few of those would even listen!

Anyway, I think it’s REALLY great you’ve gotten into this so young and that your mother encourages it.

The person who’s 15 is Jacob (who answered this question) and by his answer, I can tell, he takes genealogy seriously. I don’t know how old the people with the phony lines were – most of the ones I saw were adults!

Well, I have been on here, and many have asked this question before.
And here is my answer:
The farthest on my father’s side is in the 1550′s in France. The farthest on my mother’s side is in the 1660′s in the United States.

I have used wills, land records, marriage records, census records, death certificates, and even WWII draft registration records. Well I think that’s what you would call them. But I don’t claim an ancestor if I don’t think I have enough information. And copying and pasting from other family trees online is really lazy and sloppy and I don’t do that at all.

Also, I LOVE those trees. I always laugh. I heard that one tree had Norse gods on it!!!!! Some people really make me wonder sometimes.

Yes, I’m 15 years old. I haven’t been necessarily researching for a really long amount of time at all. Probably less than a year! The reason why I have gotten farther back than some I guess is because I have a mother that supports it a lot, I spend A LOT of time on it. I have been up into 5 o’clock in the morning looking and searching like crazy!

I got started because I have always wanted to know where my origins are from. Many people at my school either don’t know, or of German descent and are very proud of it. So I wanted to know what I had, so I actually went off on my own, and looked for it myself. I admit, I’m not the most experienced, but I do make sure what I have has credibility to it, because I can’t stand to see uncited trash on ancesetry.com. If someone sees mine, they know who the genealogist is, they see my records, and I cite and source everything obsessively. Sometimes, I don’t have to, but I do it anyways. But like I said, I wanted to know my origins. People ask me that a lot, and I say,”I know I live in America, and I know my ancestors came here one way or another, but I want to know why I’m here, and that I just didn’t crawl out from under a rock. Also, as I find my ancestors, I find more and more about myself along the way.”.
