Question by : I was married in Sevier County Tennessee but cant find any court records of the marriage Am I married legally?
No records in Sevier County Clerks Office
Best answer:
Answer by Nicky
I was also married there as we are from Atlanta. You should be able to go to the court clerks/magistrate office in the city you resided in after the marriage and find out.
They should have been notified of your marriage. If not you will have to contact the Sevier County Clerks office and have them send it to the stare you reside in as well as a copy of your certificate of marriage.

Go to your County recorder. If he was married in that county, they will have record.
If you are distrusting this guy this much, I suggest you find another guy.

Usually how it goes is:
If you are a resident of the state, then you get the license in the county in which you LIVE.
If you are a non resident then you get the license in the county in which you will be MARRIED.
But you should always call the County Clerk in the county that you intend to be married in for the EXACT information. They will also tell you what info you need to bring to get the license. And being a non-resident, usually costs more.
Some counties have a waiting period to get your license. Others require you to wait 3 days to get married after you get your license. Here, there is no waiting for the license or to get married. Most licenses are good for 30-60 days.
