will the county clerk check and verify your information on marriage license application?

For example in Florida do the county clerk check and verify accuracy of the information on the marriage license?…. Can my friend say that even having a divorce already settled over 6 months ago can she just say that she was never married before?

The county clerk is in no position to investigate the statements on marriage license applications. There is nothing to be gained by a false statement.

Not sure why she would want to, but it is fraud since she signed a document swearing all info was true.

Yes,it canbe checked. Your friend might have to sign a release of information for them to do so, but if she doesn’t that will raise suspicion.

Best not to lie in the first place.

Why would she want to lie? It’s illegal to lie and not worth the consequences! It would result in perjury charges, prison and/or fine and could invalidate her marriage. It’s not worth it!!! Just tell the truth! Good luck to her and to you!

She can say it but its fraud.
She just needs to take her divorce decree with her and show it to the clerk. That’s actually the law.

Nope. It’s on you to tell the truth; and risk having a marriage invalidated if you lie on a certificate/license.
